  1. I have a somwhat old Canon Z45MC and I recorded about 5 tapes worth

of video on my vacation. Naturally I wanted to transfer the files on my

computer, encode and archive away. But I have used around three

different video capture programs and yet all of them fail to record the

audio though the video transfers. It records the sounds if the file

if a couple of minutes but if i try to transfer the wgole 1hr tape the sound

stop at about 8 minutes in. could it be the IEEE port is messed up or even

the tape? Any ideas why no audio transfers? I do get the message on my

computer that my 3vix audio decorder is expired and was wondering if

that's why i hear no sound from the files.

What capture-transfer program are you using?
Try WinDV with "Type2" DV. If necessary Type 2 can be converted to Type 1 later. Type1-Type2 only affect the way audio is handled.

    The audio is probably there.

Yes, but you have to use the command line option.

There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
