    Hi,

Some time i sell my Own Horror films on (E)bay some goto the
U.S. but i sell most in the uk i only master the disk in PAL but
i got a letter from a buyer from the U.S. bitchin' about the disk not working here is some of it:

Dude! I'm not buying it! Don't you think it's a tad bit too late to tell me the dvd's PAL FORMATTED the day I get and complain about the dvd! You don't state that at all in your item description of the product! Now even I know a seller SHOULD do this! However you do state that the dvd is a region 0 dvd which means it's a dvd that will play on any player or PC. YOU STATE THIS! I refuse to believe that other people from the United States bought a Pal formatted dvd because 99% of every dvd and vcr player that is sold in the U.S. are ALL THE SAME! I just learned that not all EBAY sellers are trusthworthy!

Ok i forgot to say it was PAL but i never going to sell outside the U.K.
i only sold 3 dvd to he U.S. what do you think i can do, it's not like
people in the US who sell dvd sent out PAL copys, or do they?

  2. Hello NWO

If the rant by your American buyer is correct, you stated that because the DVD is a region 0 disc, it will play on any player or PC. Unfortunately, this is not true. Region coding is only part of the equation. Your player must also be able to play the proper format of the disc (in your case PAL), and it must also be able to output the proper format (in the buyer's case NTSC) for the viewer to watch it on their TV.

Not all DVD players sold in the U.S. convert PAL to NTSC during playback.
If you are going to sell your discs to people in other areas of the world I would suggest that you also tell them that your DVDs are in the PAL fomat as well as the region code.

I can understand the buyers frustration, you should have stated that the DVD was PAL. If you sell any more make sure the buyers are aware they are PAL. If you want to convert a few for overseas sales then do a forum search, there's loads of stuff about PAL NTSC conversion.

Your buyer is a whiney bitch.

Many players in the USA have played PAL discs for several years now. Out of all the players and recorders I have, only ONE does not play PAL.

Computers are not limited by PAL/NTSC.

Region coding has nothing to do with NTSC/PAL.

Not to mention, you sold from UK. The guy should pull his head out of his ass. Odds are when you buy something from UK it will be PAL. Duh.

It probably wouldn't have hurt to mention that it was PAL in your description. The buyer probably could /should have realised that this was going to be the case, but you could / should have made it more obvious too IMO ....
    If in doubt, Google it.
