I use PowerProducer 2 Gold to copy my Sony video camera output to my PC via an analogue card called Xpert DVD Maker. However when I use this setup in a laptop the some of the moving images becomes blurred. I have tried 2 different laptops with 128 meg video ram but no luck. The PC ram is 64 meg and works perfect. What could be wrong?

    Thanks.

  2. Assuming the display is blurry not the captured file.

The problem is the Laptop's LCD Screen doesn't refresh fast enough.

LCDs in general are not as good as a CRT monitor at displaying fast moving pictures. A LCD can be quite good but ones for Video work will be more expensive because the pixels can turn on and off faster.

    Hope this helps.

One other thought, you can rule out everything except teh screen being the problem by hooking the LAptop up to a Standard monitor and seeing if the blurring goes away.

You could also try setting the LCD brightness down a bit. It does get a bit darker, but sometimes helps to increase the refresh rate (since the transition from black to white goes a shorter way from black to "dimmed" white).
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

The LCD panels in most laptops are pretty early technology and have fairly low response times (25 - 30 mS). I use a 17" LCD as my main monitor that has a response time of 16mS but still use a 14" TV as a monitor when doing video work. Stuff that looks pretty grim on the monitor is fine on the TV.
