  1. My wife has decided to move her 300 VHS tapes to DVD -
I am quite aware of all the formats and I have a burner but I would like to find out what ever happen to "DVD-RA" It was used to create professional master copies that wind up on commerical DVDs

All the tapes are home shot video or TV shows - and for personal use only -
So can anyone tell me what happen to this format - is it no longer necessary ?

I was planning on using DVD-R - is this going to give the best quality or are DVD+R about the same ? And yes I know that if you put in crap you get crap back so that part I am not concern about

I have a plextor Px-708A (may need to do a firmware update) I have PowerDVD 6 and I also have a Lg DVD/VHS combo which could do the job but it has no edit but it can do DL DVD

    any ideas and comments please

    Thank you for your time

If you mean video or audio quality, data is data is data. Disc type has no bearing.

As far as good media, www.nomorecoasters.com

And then DVD-R(A) is for production for latter press work, and you're not doing that. Not to mention those burners are $$$$'s and the discs are $$'s to buy.

  3. Thanks for the quick reply - one of the reasons that I asked about DVD-RA was that I am shooting HD Video for our church and was planning on making some masters for our church - (think fund raiser here)

Do you have any ideas where I can find the ifo or prices etc - thank you
