  1. Does anyone know the average alloted time for TV commercials?

4 segments of 2 mins. each (for 1/2 hour show)?

    Total of 8 minutes?

    Thanks,
    Troy

um from what i know... every 10 min there is a 5 min commercial break. Like on TNT superstation, the show would start at 8:00pm and a commercial would start at 8:10. Then start back up at 8:15. But on average the length of a commercial is between 30 sec and 1 min. Just watch tv for an hour or so on diff channels

  3. I don's think there is a set rule, as on 1-hr series episodes I see anywhere from 42+ to 45- minutes, same series rarely varies more than 1 minute or so.

    i believe

Per 1 hour tv show, the FCC allows 15 minutes of commericals.

  5. Over here in the UK i think the satellite channels are allowed around 9 minutes of ads per hour but that doesn't include trailers.

  6. I don't think the time is allotted by the FCC. I think it's alloted by each individual station. If they want to run more ads, they can do it. They could run an hour of ads if they wanted to. But I think it depends on the content.

For example, they could have more ads and charge each ad less money, or they could have less ads and charge more money for those ads. Either way, the company makes the same amount of money...

And that formula of commercials on TNT isn't always right. Sometime I'll watch a show and they start the commercial 5 minutes into the show, and then back when WCW was on TNT, the commercial breaks wouldn't start until about the 25 minute mark.

  7. Normally its 3 breaks of 3 minutes each for a one hour show and 2 breaks (one at the end of the show) for a half hour show. Of course if its off the BBC then there's no commercials at all!!
