Nerovision question

I made my first attempt at authoring a DVD with NeroVision and it failed. I got an error message that said insufficient disk space for encoding. The file size was 3.9 gig, and the destination drive has 37.2 Gigs of free space. Can anyone shed some light on what might have happened? The conversion took well over three hours, and I hate to waste another three hours to have another failure. Thanks for any replies.

I can save you some time ...... stop using NeroVision


I'd say that it attempts to use either the drive the NeroVision software is installed on and/or your "system" temp directory as the temp directory for its encodes, so you need at least that file size plus a bit more spare on this drive also.

so maybe might move temp files
to another drive
nerovision is nice easy app
dont knock it'
just so u know, nero save old files
i ended up with 22 gigs
u have to delete them in app data in documents

I have a dual boot system with one drive designated as "C" and another drive partitioned into "D" and "E". The Nerovision is located on "E" drive. When I first started the conversion, I got a message telling me there was insufficient space in the destination drive. I then specified "C" drive as the destination drive, and the operation started. I let it do the conversion overnight and awoke to the message listed in my original post.

How much space do you have free on your E drive ?

There should be a way from within NeroVision to specify where to store temp files. I'd suggest you point this to the drive with 37GB free.

"E" drive has 42.1 Gigs of free space. When you guys talk about "temp" files, do you mean under the temp folder, or the Windows temp folder? The reason I ask is that I can't find anything in any of my temp folders. Now, the Windows temp folder is a completely different story.

Click on the "More ..." button to reveal the "Configure" button. Click it.




Go to the Folders tab and see where it lists as your temp directory. This drive needs to have plenty of free disk space.

Thanks for your patience and help.... I went into "options" after the first error message that I received and changed the location to "C" drive. The temp folder on "C" drive shows empty, so I'm not sure exactly what happened. I'll play around with it some more, and see what I can come up with. Thanks again for your help.

Well, I managed to burn the.avi video to a dvd, but when I played it in my stand alone dvd player, the audio was out of sync with the video. I double checked the file and when I played it on my pc, everything looked fine. When I played it on the preview option of Nero, it was out of sync. Any ideas what went wrong this time? I thought the conversion would be a painless operation...

First check and make sure you have the latest version (It was updated on Aug 5), if not download the update for both Nero and Nerovision.

I've had sync problems in the past but things have been running pretty smoothy for the past couple of upgrades, granted I don't do .avi files however and have found trouble with Nero's own MPEG4 conversions if I edited them in re-code.

Next time try this. Do NOT burn to a DVD, instead BURN TO HD. You can then check the HD copy and if it's OK, you can use Nero to burn the HD folder to a DVD. This is faster than doing a slow write to a DVD and when you burn the folder it's a track at once and usually only takes 10 minutes or so for a 2 hour movie. You can also burn first to a HD folder and then burn a second copy to a DVD and it'll do it without recoding.

If you still have sync problems with the .avi file, file a bug report with Neo, they're good at getting back to you within a day or two.
