  1. Ok I have a anime file that has multiple audio and sub.So I been trying to use MKVtoolnix newest to exact 1video stream + 1 audio stream.THen i try to add it to VirtualDubMod to has as avi direct stream but fails. So then I get MKVextractGUI newest it seems to work but for some reason I can't open the avi in cce sp 2.5.But when I extract only video stream with MKVtoolnix Im able to as as avi with VDM.For some reason MKVtoolnix gives me audio delay so i use MKVextractGUI to extract audio and MKVtoolnix to extract video.

What are you guys using to try mkv to mpeg2?Do you guys see some thing I might be doing wrong?

Not really sure what you mean. MKVExtractGUI uses mkvextract from mkvtoolnix. They are the same thing or you mean you are using mkvmerge to remux streams to a new mkv file?

  3. Ok maybe I didn't make it clear.lol
Im using mkmerge GUI 1.50 to extract only the video and English audio stream to a mkv file, but the audio is not sync with the video its off 1 or 2 seconds. When using MKVextractGUI to do that same thing It producess a unusable/corrupt container [i guess]the avi works. But no video editing program can open it.

  4. Its out of sync because its a varible bitrate audio probally (ppl insist on using vbr audio and I dont know why). There are literally thousands of post and solutions to this in the forum, do a search on audio out of sync. Dont know about your mkvegui problem.
    Quality is my policy.

mkv fully supports and handles VBR audio. The reason people use it is because it offers better quality per the same filesize than CBR, probably especially with movies, since they contain much more silence than the average music.

What are the specs on the mkv? Perhaps it doesn't use avi compatible video? You could try mencoder to remux:
mencoder.exe -ovc copy -oac PCM -aid# input.mkv -o putput.avi where # is the number of the audio stream that you wish to keep.

Ok, so the video should demux fine to avi. Keep in mind though that it has a non 1:1 PAR, although if it is MPEG4, then that may be present even after remuxing.

  8. Best way to convert MKV to MPEG2 is still TMPGencoder with the DirectShow reader. Unfortunately you cant use latest matroska playback packs for that, deinstall them and install old 1.0.3 pack with Gabest splitter.

We have no idea why Haali's splitter won't work with TMPG, but it doesn't and these guys dont want to work with us on the problem unfortunately ....
