I have a problem with my sony DVD cam in that when the transfer software (Imagemixer) goes to access the camera, the system crashes every time. I've checked the drivers/ loaded unloaded software / everything as it should in device manager/ etc... In my research I've come across info that the USB ports don't always like sharing an IRQ with other devices and that this might be a solution if I can change the IRQ of the USB ports.
I run XP pro and the device manager shows a bunch of stuff using IRQ 9 along with the USB device. IRQ 10 is not being used by anything - I would like to get the USB using IRQ 10. The bios does not have options specifically for the USB IRQ setting - just options for setting the IRQ for different slots - even when I change these, XP seems to set the IRQ's to whatever its preferences are.
Is there a reasonably easy way to get XP to use a different IRQ? The manual configuration is grayed out in device manager so I'm not sure where to go from here.

    Thanks,
    Remulon

XP is usually good sorting IRQs on its own. First I'd try disabling and uninstalling all the USB controllers. Reboot a few times and then let them reinstall. XP should handle it.

I was going to make the ILink comment but I see this is a DVD camcorder.
