I have been messing with Dazzle DVC for about 6 mos. and have NO luck getting anything worthy of keeping. I am thinking of buying a new computer with lots of bells and whistles. I need advice on which software to buy for editing. I use analog inputs, and will probably buy a All in Wonder Card. That will take care of the capturing, but I will need a good quality editing package to make decent VCD's.

  2. Unfortunately Premiere Premiere Premiere (about £500)

If you just want to cut out commercials etc, then you can use vDub which is free, also have a look at movieXone from http://www.aist.com. This is also free.

  3. If you are editing captures then VirtualDub is amazing. If you are editing MPEG files then you will need something else. I really like MyFlix. It has a bit of a learning curve but it works very well.

Definitely Adobe Premiere 6.0 would be your top choice... with its plug-in architecture you could buy or download plugins for Premiere that extend the program's functionality. I bet they even have a plugin that lets Premiere edit MPEGs. And Panasonic MPEG Encoder Plugin is for that, so you know that works.
