    I recently purchased a windows laptop, and I think I want to use it as a DVR. I would like to hook it up to a firewire, or usb 2.0 device and set it to record various programs, and then watch them later. Any suggestions, I did a search but didn't find much over non PCI devices.

    I've always been suspect of USB devices, and would much prefer Firewire-based devices, such as the ADVC-100.
