I love this forum but lately, there's a lot of noise - double posts, same old same old same old questions over and over, etc. I would really like some way to filter out the crap I don't want to read so I can get to the stuff I want to read and help the few people I can help while finding answers to stuff I don't know. I know there's a search but I would rather filter since it would be more effective. Yes, I can skip over the topics that don't interest me but it would be best if they simply didn't show up. Any chance of being able to create something like this Baldrick?

i would also like a such filter sometimes...but I dont know how to make it and I think that it would require even more database queries and it slows down the forum kinda much.

  3. Yes ngnr, that would be nice. I enjoy this forum and have learned a great deal from the people here and appreciate it very much. Unfortunetly a "Forum" such as this is, well, sort of like a school with grades kindergarden thru highschool. We all don't graduate to the next grade at the same time. You just have to deal with the "kiddies"!

Oh well, I sort of thought it might be a tough nut to crack. I guess the manual filter (look - skip - skip -read) will have to do. Happy trails!

This is one of the reasons why I suggested moving these fora to a newsserver. Setting up newsgroups that parallel the existing forum structure would allow us to use our favorite newsreader to follow. There are plenty of newsreaders out there...and some of the best ones are free. I'm not talking about this proposed newsserver being part of Usenet... just a "private" server, like some other websites have.
