  3. oki got it installed without errors popping up but im still confused. as far as i can see MMC is just a playback function, but in the dvd guides it shows it as a capture device, how do i get that? i have pinnacle stuido 8 for capturing. and the tv icon got installed (for mmc) but when i click it, it imedditly says "ATIMMC.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."

now should i even bother with mmc or just keep using studio 8? all i want to do is capture vhs and 8mm tapes and convert them so i can burn them on dvd

  4. There is a version of driver that requires you to have dot net installed prior to your ATI driver. You can get it from windows update it is good to have it. There also versions of the driver that does not require .NET

Did you install from the cd or download the files from the ati website? Try uninstalling the drivers and software then installing the drivers and software from the ati website www.atitech.com

For ati capturing guides look here for mpeg capture

    and here for avi capture

Use ATI MMC 8.7 or 9.02
    Those are most stable.

8.8 was one of the most UNstable.

9.02 has been most stable for me for my AIW-8500DV.

Also uninstall all traces of old ATI drivers and software before installing a new version.

Best place for advice on ATI AIW is Rage 3D
