So I bought a DV6 SupaCam and Boston's MacWorld. They had told me that to make it compatible with iMovie that I had to download the DIVX codec. Come to find out the DivX 5.2.2 isn't compatible with X.4. Anyone have any alternatives so that I can bring it into iMovie HD. I can play it fine with VLC, but there is not kind of export or anything. Thanks Wayne.

I bought the same Supacam DV6 at MacWorld Boston and experienced the same problem with no sound. I searched all of the forums and VersionTracker trying to find tools to convert the .AVI file so that the sound would work. Finally discovered a tool that works.

    DivX WMA Converter

    http://www.carrafix.com/DivXWMAConverter/

This tool takes the original .AVI file from the camera and "fixes" the sound, saving the result in a "fixed" .AVI file. You can then open the "fixed" .AVI file in QT Pro 7 and play it and the audio now plays correctly with the video.

Now that the audio is working in QT, you can then export the movie to DV Stream format (.DV). The .DV file will also play fine in QT with audio, and you can also import the .DV file into iMovie for editing.

    I'm running Mac OSX 10.4.2 w/ QT Pro 7.0.1 on a G4 800 MHz w/ 768 MB.

This method worked for me. Your mileage may vary.
