  1. Does anybody know of any sites that let you store stuff on them (internet hard drives)? Sites like X-drive or idrive, but that are free w/ at least 100MB? any help on this would be really appriciated. (For your information: i intend to upload some home movies that i need to share with someone with cable connection.)

    Thanks,
    Riot_INC,.

  2. Riot, one thing to consider about the internet hard drives is that most of them cap your download for the account. They only let you download from the account a certain number of files or a certain amount of mb's. Sometimes they lock you out for a month once you've downloaded your alloted mb's or number of files. What they do is keep a running tally of downloads. It's not the best route to go. Why not just install ServU and let your friend download directly from you? That's what I do for the stuff that I want to share with friends. Also are you an a cable connection or higher?

  3. I already knew this stuff, man. Thanks anyway. It's just temporary and it's only going to be for about a week, so i really don't mind. I have DSL and it's configured properly, but it's been slowing down as time goes by, so i'd just rather put them up for a little while.

But, where can i get this "ServU" program or service? is it free? I might give it a try, but that too, will be temporary.Let me know, Thanks man.

  5. the free online storage places are all going down fast right now. gambits advice is right on the money. serv-u is excellent but be carefull not to allow annonomous logins since thats a good way to loose your high speed connection.

  6. Suggest you look to one of the distributed file sharing systems (e.g., Mojo Nation) For Mojo there is a 300MB or so file size cap, but you can use WinRAR to break up the file and publish the directory in one operation without any problems. Downloads can reach 100KB/sec from the swarm. Mojo allows a reasonably degree of anonymity. If you want to keep things private you can publish files without them being indexed for others to find, only you'll have the key.

  7. Hey Riot, I have set up an ftp server with DSL before, If you can give me your information like what type of router for dsl you use ie. cisco 675/678 or the intel 2100l, 2200 or 3200 I can help ya, also who do ya use for an ISP? that will also assist in what can and can not be done with this as some ISP strictly forbid the use of FTP servers. Just send me an email with it and I will give ya the instructions to set it up with
