  1. I have searched, but all I can find are questions relating to playing movies with dvd drive of xbox. I want to ftp movie to xbox hard drive and run from there. I do NOT want to burn to disc. Dvd decrypter will rip to computer hard drive, but does it have to be encoded or can I just transfer vob files? If I encode with cce, do I transfer an ISO file?

  4. with the new xbmc it takes dvds

or mpegs...its really up to you.
xvid is a space saver, over mpegs..

  5. ok.....yes that is exactly what I want to do. I have the dvd on disc, I just want to store it on hard drive so it can be easily viewed from XBMC without putting the dvd in the drive. I have certain dvds that I use a lot, and instead of going and getting the dvd and running the disc, I would rather be lazy and just pull from harddrive! So, as long as XBMC will be able to read avi, that is what I will do. thanks

thats all fine, but a waste of time, really.the conversion to avi means no pc needed to be connnected,no netowrk to run,and well,a lot less space if you want a permanent collection on your hard drive.

    It all depends
Is there a program that converts the dvd to divx or avi via your xbox? (I've never looked)

Since you have to network your computer to transfer the file to your xbox anyway if you just wanted to watch a movie that was on your pc you can just stream it no matter what form it was in

But if you want to show the movies over your buddies house I would definitely transfer it to the HD (I like to save bits of robot chicken episodes from time to time)

Normally I just use my dvd player for movies though
