Conclusion. XviD is the better video codec. Plus the bitrate of the DivX file is lower (have a look at the b/pixel).
Sounds like mosquito noise or some other kind of artifact. I guess maybe the ESS chipset is doing some kind of post processing? How does it look when played back with ffdshow and pp enabled? -
Never mind, my mistake. For those who were following this thread, it does the same thing on the Philips as well. I don't know why I didn't spot it the last time but maybe because the LG player has a shaper pic.
