I have an older G3 iBook and a G4 PowerBook. The iBook is running 10.3.9, and PB is on 10.4.2.
ffmpegX runs absolutely fine on the PowerBook, but on the iBook any preset that uses mencoder doesn't work. It just delivers a null file. ffmpeg settings work fine, but not mencoder.
Apart from their different configurations, I can't figure out why one works and the other doesn't. Although the iBook is slow, because it is not my main computer any more, I like to use it for encoding tasks.
Help?

Go off and rule the universe from beyond the grave. Or check into a psycho ward, whichever comes first, eh?

On G3 you need to install the G3 binaries from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/mplayerosx/ffmpegXbinaries230105_G3.zip?download
The installer will mark them in red, in that case cancel and continue and they will work.
