Does anyone know of a site that offers free AVI downloads that can be used for home movie making? A few nice ones came with my Ulead software, and I'm guessing there is a site that has short AVI files available that might be good for the beginning and end of movies.
Thank you!

Exactly what are you after, content-wise ?
There's a heap of logos and stuff in the tools section:
VCD, DVD, DD, DTS, THX logosIf in doubt, Google it. -
usually you shoot your own home movies unless you want to someones elses -- but that would be a different forum

I realize the concept of shooting your own movies, maybe I didn't describe it well. There are footage pieces that say "the end", or other clips used at the beginning of the movie. Hope that explains it.

"THE END" is a start - at least that gives us a bit more info to go on.
... but what other clips at the beginning ? Saying what ? We need more info. You want people to help you, yet you give them nothing. We don't know what you want - you do ... and we're not mind-readers. Please tell us.
try doing a google for "clips at the beginning" and see how successful you are
There's probably no reason why you couldn't make your own with some creative AVISynth scripting anyway:

or any of the others listed here:

With Ulead Video Studio the software came with certain clips. There is one used prior to your own footage which simulates film rolling with a countdown. One of the ones I've used at the end has a curtain coming down and it says, The End. This is the sort of thing I'm looking for. Thanks!

There's also some Dolby Digital intro trailers available here.
EDIT:
Just had a play with Windows Movie Maker, Virtualdubmod and AutoGK and I made up this one in about half an hour all up:

You probably won't find any AVI's, the files would be huge, the same could be said for the mpeg's. You might find some site selling CD's or DVD's with the material. I've seen a few sites selling stuff like that for creating wedding packages.
"Stock video" brings up quite a few results, ironically 10th one down is from Ulead: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2005-22,GGLG:en...stock+video%22
If you have VS9 or even 8 it has quite a few features for creating your own, some found only in higher end editors such as chroma key which is available in 9. -
Try this site:

May not be AVI, but should be helpful anyway. To video and beyond!! -
Most of the stuff you see on that site can be made quite in an image editing application with a little practice. It's pretty simple making things such as custom titles to add to your videos. If that's what your after there's two free image editing apps I know of available:
Acrylic from MS
http://www.microsoft.com/products/expression/
Gimp, note that this program may be alittle daunting for a begginer.

If you want a pay for program PaintShop Pro, Ulead Photoimpact or Abobe Essential. I'm pretty sure all three have free trials available for download.
