Tried to encode a .avi and .wav to an MPEG2 using TMPGenc. That went fine and the resulting .mpg was 791MB. When I tried to burn to CD using VCDeasy, first it complained about the non-standard format (512x384) and then VCDeasy deduced the file size was 877MB now. I have done
this too many times to count with .mpgs that were up to 820MB. Why has this file size grown so big or better yet, why does VCDeasy think that this 791MB file is now 877MB???

  2. VCD is MPEG1.NTSC is 352x240 29.97 fps and PAL 352x288 25fps ,video is 1150kbps,audio 224.These are VCD standards and wont work unless you use them.
    SVCD is MPEG2 though

Thanks...I have been moving around for quite awhile doing contract work and have not been keeping up things. I set my "encoding" system up at my residence a few years ago and have forgotten how I did it AND how to set up this new laptop to be somewhat identical to that system. I forgot that I must use the Templates in TMPGenc...now that I am using the templates, it is all falling back into place. I still have one peculariaty tho...I have installed all the codecs on this laptop but still VirtualDub 1.6.9 can not determine the correct MP3 audio codec while both AVICODEC and GSPOT can easily determine that LAME MP3 is the one used with this .avi. I have moved both "lame_enc.dll" AND "LameACM.inf" to the VirtualDub directory but still it finds the audio information to be UNKNOWN 0055. If anyone knows why this happens, please clue me in because I am at a loss over this one. Thanks for your response.

Have you installed the Lame MP3 codec (by right-clicking on the INF file and going to Install), or just "moved the files to the VirtualDub directory" ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

No, I right-clicked and "installed"...thats why this is so bizarre...at any rate I installed Goldwave and it was able to create a .wav file for me but that still seems to be a problem with VirtualDub...weird...
