does your burner support dual layer burning, could you encode the files with a slightly lower bit rate? you should be able to get close to 9gb on a dual layer disc.

You can only get 7.9 gb on a dual layer dvd, best to split the project onto 2 dvds and shrink it a bit if necessary. If you want you can reduce the bitrate and encode to 352x480/576 but since you have given any info on the actual files being encoded its hard to say whats the best size to encode to.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
A number of options:Originally Posted by greenblueredblue

- Use rejig to transcode your current MPEGs
- Author a disc oversize on purpose then transcode using DVDShrink, DVD2One etc
IMHO if you truly MUST fit these on one DVDR, I think your best bet is to re-encode, but given the low bitrate you'll no doubt have to use, you'll probably need to lower the frame size ..... A LOT. For the price of a DVDR these days, I'd author one with 5 eps and use DVDShrink to pull it down to size, and then author one with 4 eps (which should be under 4.37GB, so no need to Shrink). If in doubt, Google it. -
I suggest that as well. You will be better off putting it on two disks.Originally Posted by jimmalenkoThis plan is so bad, it must be one of ours.

see if your dvd player supports xvid or divx
if the episodes are 50 -60minute long then you can get 9 500mb episodes on one disk
500mb for an hour long episode ripped from a dvd is pretty high quality xvid -
yeh it does support divx but how do i encode the videos to divx so that they are only 500 MBs each

use dvd decrypter to rip the files off the dvd to your hard driveOriginally Posted by greenblueredblue
then use autogk and set file size to 500mb
check out the auto gk guides
its an incredibly easy program to use
