hello. sorry i am not sure if this is the proper forum to post this. i'd like to buy a movie but it's only available in DVD-3 format. my question is.. will it play on my laptop's DVD-ROM drive? If it can't be played, is it possible to rip it or make a back of it up to HDD then burn the new file to DVD-R, so that it plays on a standard U.S. DVD player?

A DVD-1 is one of those smaller DVDs, I think they are often called mini-dvds. A DVD-3 is just a double sided one. A DVD-3 holds 2.72 gigs.
Yes it will play in any DVD-rom. It will fit in the smaller inner ring of the tray. The same goes for any hardware dvd player too so long as its the correct region and format (PAL or NTSC.)
Just treat it like a regular DVD but place it in the small ring of the dvd tray. -
Sorry. Yes, I think DVD-3 refers to region 3. I placed the cursor on top of the DVD-3 icon & it says Southeast Asia including Hong Kong, South Korea & Taiwan.
