After pressing the REC button is there any way to have it stop recording with stopping it yourself. say if i want it to stop rec in a hour and I go out can the program be stop with pressing the stop button? I use to have a panasonic recorder that would stop in a hour just by pressing the rec button it would show 60 minutes left and count down from there until it stop. is there any way with programming it to stop? thanks tried reading the manual but it too much info in it to understand....

Shockingly, such a basic feature seems to have been omitted from the RD-XS35. There is, however, a workaround:

In the TV guide menu, go to Schedule, hit 'Menu' then go to 'Set Manual Recording'

The start time will be at or earlier than the current time so you just set the end time and go to 'Schedule Recording'.

It will start recording immediately.

It's clunky, but it works fine.

How do I disable the auto shut down feature on this recorder? seems like if you have it on for awhile a message comes on the screen to contiue press enter or the recorder will shut down? it's really annoying please help me....
