Hi, here's my problem: I have a rather large VCD collection and I am having frequent problems extracting .dat files and mpeg2 files from them. To be specific, I get read errors '1/0' errors, 'ms-dos error' messages. I have tried ISOBuster and CDRwin and have managed to extract files anyway, but the video comes off as a corrupted mess beyond repair. These discs, no matter HOW corrupt they extract are ALL perfect when played on my Pioneer DVD player (DV-525). The drives I have tried to extract with are a Creative, and a Mitsumi CDRW. Does anyone think I'd have better luck trying to extract with a DVD drive?

    My system stats:
    Athon 1.4 gig
Radeon AIWover 700 megs of SD RAM
    running Windows 2000
    A7V-133 ASUS mobo

I have also tried extraction on my other 500 Celeron server comp, but same deal.

My discs are NOT dirty, and most have only been played on the DVD player 2-3 times. With most of the films I can extract 1 of the 2 films with no problems, so I don't suspect the encoding.

Can anyone shed some light on this issue?
Oh, if it makes a difference I usually only burn at 2x to 4x.

I hope this is enough info!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! I have invested a lot of time and energy into this addiction, so it's a bit frustrating.

    Thanks

  3. kikaida,

    I use this method :

    1. Using Cdrwin's Extract disc/tracks/sector's option I create a bin/cue image of the disc.

    2. I then run VcdGear and rip the mpeg. Do not select the Fix mpeg errors option.

    That's it.

Why would you get "ms-dos error" in 2000? Maybe it's Isobuster? Try the method I use and see what happens.

  4. I dont know what you want your end result to be but if you are just trying to make more copies of your movies. Go to Google and get a demo of cloneCD. It will do a nice job of making exact copies of either format. If not, ignore this reply. ..... harrymj3
