I got to see a sneak preview of the movie Monday night, and it was an AWSOME movie.

The story was alright and Christian Bale made a great Batman. Gary Oldman was great as well playing Jim Gordon.

The movie had no over the top special effects, everything looked real. The training scenes in the begining showed off some martial arts during the fights.

Some of the movie was more like a horror movie with some scary scenes.
They really got the scary Batman image down, voice and all. At some points you even want to root for the badguys because Batman is so scary.
The majority of the fight scenes kind of made me think of Alien in a way, you do not know what is going on, just people dissapearing.

I am hoping to see this movie again in IMAX first chance I get.

This is pretty much the best Batman movie so far, especially after the last 2 and it is a great movie in general. In terms of summer block busters, it was better than Star Wars: Ep. 3, which I did enjoy.

The director did a great job getting more of the Dark Batman from the comic books up on the screen.

The minute Joel Shumacher got his paws on the Batman series, I knew it was destined to become the homo-erotic nightmare it became (anyone remember "The Lost Boys"). Sort of like watching the amiguously gay duo... just not as funny. Hell, Tim Burton didn't really do that great of a job with it. If its anything like the recent Batman graphic novels, I imagine it will be great.

    Hi,

    Just saw it this afternoon.

I'm not sure what to think of it. It was well done and the actors were excellent. Liam Neeson showed he stayed in shape after his stint as Qui Gon in Phantom Menace.

I thought it was a little too dark. I agree the last two batman movies were too comical but a movie like this needs a little levity. The few joke lines seemed a little forced.

I do agree with other comments I've read about it comparing with Spiderman 1 and more importantly Xmen 1. It does set up the franchise again in an important way. I thought Michael Cain was excellent as Alfred. Morgan Freeman was also a great presence. Though I think it would have been more fun if they took his characters role down a different role (won't say what since that would be a pretty big spoiler).

But I think they're in good shape. This should take off well and they did a good job of setting up the next sequel.

I heard they are planning on making this into a triology. So will all 3 films take place before the original Batman? Or will there be some overlap and these are just considered separate from the existing 4 movies? I'm wondering because I thought I read that they are calling Batman Begins a revisioning or something instead of a prequel. Either way it looks like a step in the right direction. I actually liked the first 2 batman movies, the last 2 were just plain painful.

Hopefully they allow for some overlap and just continue the series as is. Let's just try and forget the nightmare that was Tim Burton's Batman (not as bad as...) and the Joel Schumacher Batman. Isn't it painfully obvious that neither of these guys has ever read one Batman comic book?

I totally disagree with Yoda concerning the dark tone of the movie. Batman needs that darkness. Moments of levity only serve to make the movies campy. The amount of humor in Batman Begins is just right. Besides, you wouldn't want your Batman cracking jokes at every opportunity (we'll leave that to Mel Gibson and Bruce Willis in the Lethal Weapon and Die Hard movies).

No way. This movie very much reflects (to me at least) the current batman in the comics. He is a dark chracter, he has not been the guy in tights running around with comicly oversized bombs for a long time.

Not that I'm suggesting that you want it taken that far, but my point is if you for a moment treat the Batman chracter as anything but Dark, if you let the "humor in" if you will, then you'll just end up 1 or 2 movies later with Batman and Robin again.

For those who haven't seen it, it IS a must see movie this summer. VERY well done.

Not enough pretty colours for you ? The Batman movies need anything but levity, especially after the last lot.

Is this a euphenism for something ? :P

I haven't seen it yet but am looking forward to something more like the first (and second) one.

There is no comparison between Jack Nicholson's character and Arnold Schwarzenegger's - the former is far superior. I originally had doubts with Michael Keaton playing the part of Batman but in hindsight he has been the best one...

Christine Bale fits the role as Batman, he's the best one yet. I saw the movie today and thought it was awesome. It's better than any of the other Batman movies. The story and plot were executed very well. I look forward to the next one.

    Hi,

The only thing I didn't like about the new batmobile was the fact you have to move the seat down to fire. That seems like a waste - why not have a HUD (heads up display) that would be superimposed over the front windshield??? Makes more sense than having to move the driver to fire.

except it only has 10degree field of view, can't back up and doesn't even come close to bumper safety laws ...

but yea -- would look good on the street anyway

  22. There was some footage released prior to the movie showing the batmobile, tearing up a street,
on the net somewhere, but I forgot where.

I agree this is the better Batman film; more edgy
and not overflowing with techno gear like
Inspector Gadget on steroids. Still I have to see
how they handle the Joker in the next film as
'ole Jack did a masterful job imho.

Yeah... I was just thinking the same thing. (sarcasm) I don't think they designed the thing for practicality. It's a movie prop! It's only supposed to look cool! Does it matter that you have to lay down to fire the weapons? The damn thing doesn't even have weapons... IT'S A PROP!!!

Yes, it is functioning vehicle (it drives, turns, it goes really fast), but I"m sure they were not worried about it battle-readiness.
