I did not format my mini dvd-R prior to recording on my Handycam, after recording home videos I finalized the disc, now I have two tracks in which I can only see with isobuster and can only extract to *tao* files that my programs will not recognize.
How can I recover my videos.
    Thank you for any help

I just had that problem about 4 days ago.

I could not finalise the disc and it showed as blank through everything except IsoBuster.
When i used IsoBuster to rip the track to my Hard Drive, i then renamed the extension from .tao to .mpg, i could watch it and hear it through any of my players but yet TDA would not accept it ?

So then i demultiplexed the audio and video with TMPGEnc and TDA accepted them both with no problems what so ever

Thanks for the help, but that only got me halfway there. I have three tracks I extracted one at a time changed the extension and now it will play on only WMP but the video is half there and stops then the audio is half there and stops and TPMGEnc does recognize it.
I know when I extract it that I have errors from IsoBuster <it can not read certain sectors>, I tried all zeros, dummy data or omit and still get the same product.
If you have more info I would greatly appreciate it, Iv'e tried all the tricks in the bag that I know of as far as programs.
    Thanks

Just to let everyone know, I have had this hobbie of editing, authoring, and converting or whatever is envolved with videos all types of videos for awhile now.... 9 years. I learned from researching all over the net and diffrent forums and asking questions. So when I say I have used all tricks in the bag I mean all.
I really need some help tryin to retrieve my home videos that mean alot.
    Thanks

Can the Handicam still play it? If so, do a transfer to someone else's DV camera (Firewire, if possible).

edit: by transfer, I mean play out-->record in. Yes, it loses a little quality, but better something than nothing...

    NO.
The only way I can see anything close to a file that can be recognized is through Iso Buster.
No other hardware/software can play/convert it.

See, now i had the same problem, and i did what i said in my first post,
Opened TMPGEnc, go to file, MPEG tools, De-Multiplex, choose "All Files" and save the audio stream and video stream as seperate files, then open in TDA and they were the full video... not the partial video and audio as in WMP or Windvd.....

You just open the video.m2v video file in TDA and add the audio file... and all is good....
