  1. Greetings

I have some music video dvd’s which I have split into tacks (mpeg 1 or 2) so I can play them by selection on my home made video jukebox. The problem I face is that the audio levels are not all the same, one can be a lot louder than the other. I can get around this with mp3 tracks by using mp3 gain. On some video track I can change the .mpg to .mp3 and mp3 gain will work, when I’ve done I just change the .mp3 back to .mpg. This does not always work as sometimes it makes a mess of the video.

So I think the key to this would be to convert all my mpg video files to have a layer 2 audio track, or even better a mp3 audio track (is it possible to have an mp3 audio track on a mpg video ?) if it is possible which software package should I use to do this.

    TIA

AFAIK, MP3 is not usable for DVD. But you can convert them to AC3 and save some space over MPEG-1, layer 2 audio. Try ffmpegGUI.

  3. Thanks for the reply

my mpg video is AC3 but I need to find a way to

    convert mpg/Ac3 to mpg/layer2

    or

up the volume on the mpge/AC3 - or set the gain

    thanks

  4. You can demux the audio and video using VirtualDubMod. Leave the video as it is. Convert AC3 audio to MP2 using HeadAC3he. Remux to MPEG using Vdub or TMPGEnc MPEG tools.
