  1. Hi all,

I have a Radeon 9800 pro graphics card and I recently discovered it had TV Out so I want to watch Pc files such as divx...etc on my TV. Seeing as my TV is right next to my PC i don't need a long cable. My question is that I found out I have a 7 pin S-video out connection on my video card which is in a 4 pin and 3 pin configuratin. On My TV I have a 4 pin S-video in configuration. Can I buy a male 7 pin to male 4 pin s-video cable for this? Would it be cheaper to buy a 7 pin to 3 RCA connection and do it that way or what? Also I'm having trouble finding the right cable, can anyone please help me?

Look in your ATI box for the 7-pin to 4-pin adapter. If lost they are available online.

Your video out is configured as the second monitor in display properties.

  3. Thanx for the reply edDV See I threw out the box so yeah I guess I'll have to buy an adapter online. Any particular place online I can buy for the cheap??? Oh yeah and if i use a 7-pin to 4-pin adapter...does that also carry sound with it or just video? If not cant I just play the audio through my pc speakers?

The S out is just video only, you'll need to take the line-out from your soundcard and feed it into your audio in's on your TV or out to your A/V tuner.

Usually a red and white RCA on the TV end.

  7. If you do the S-Video thing, with an onboard sound card, and your tv has rca audio in jacks, you'll need an adapter to go from the 1/8'th inch pc speaker out port to L&R rca. Can pick one up from about any electronics store. Or, you could just run a piece of rg-59 coax from tv out to cable in on tv and that would take care of audio and video, but it prob would'nt be stereo. Don't forget to turn on the out to tv setting in your ATI display properties, and pick the proper output connector.
