As reported on AVS forum and other places, Panasonic has now seen fit to provide us with firmware upgrades for their products:

    http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vDownloads?storeId=15001&langId=-1...ge=DVDFirmware

I'll be doing my E80H shortly...

  4. Does anyone know where/how to find out exactly what these upgrades accomplish? It would be _kinda_ nice to know but I don't see anything on the Panasonic site...

It's been reported that they allow newer media (8X and 16X) to be used but some media like the new Fuji 8X -R apparently still don't work. Others have said that some errors that resulted in U99s have been fixed. Best to write directly to Panasonic and ask...

  6. Thanks for the info, I'll be doing my 85 tonight.

  7. I wont be doing mine. If it works fine, no need to change anything.

  8. Yeah, usually it's best to leave well enough alone, but with U99 error fixes, I'd rather upgrade and avoid getting the error in the first place.

  9. 1. What does the firmware update fix? I see no release notes, only installation instructions.

    2. What's the release date on this update? I see no dates.

    3. I've never had a U99 error before. What causes them?
