I just bought a new Asus DVD-E616P2 for my computer. Now when I used DVD shrink, it gives me an copyright protection error message. When I read from my dvd burner, there is no problem. Does anyone know why my ASUS drive is doing this? If so how can I get around it.

Try using DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 or DVDFab Decrypter to rip to your hard drive.

Yup. DVD Shrink has been hit or miss whenever I use it. And even if it doesn't get an error, it sometimes lets one "pass." After a few bad experiences along those lines, I started using DVDdecrypter ... and now DVDfabDecrypter (alternatively).

In another forum, folks were complaining about this same issue - and apparently there is a firmware update at Asus which addresses the problem. I think they said firmware 1.07 fixed it.

I found that the firmware 1.7 still gave me the problem. But I then updated to 1.8 and it seems to fixed it. Maybe I'll try different software.
Thanks everyone
