I have a NEC 1300A. I have been using Memorex 4x DVD-R from Walmart to store stuff on that I plan on keeping, like movies. They work perfect.. The only ones I have found so far.
But I have several items that change from week to month.. Like movies Im testing & backups ect.. I seen that (Verbatim (DataLifePlus) 4xDVD+RW) were suppose to work well. So I ordered some of those.
I burned the Verbatim DVD+RW using Nero (multisession).. I then used DVDINFO to check for errors.. As Nero gives Me false positives.. All 5 that I burned had errors??.. So I did a full reformat on one and burned it again.. It again had errors..
Next I format the DVD+RW for INCD.. I drag & dropped the same files over to My drive and it burned them just fine like before.. I tested it with DVDINFO again.. and there were no errors??
Now.. I would rather use INCD because its easier to use.. But a few years ago I used Roxios Packet writing.. and After 6 months all My data was bad on like 20 cds.. Eeeek!!.. After scouring forums I summed up that packet writing was dangerous because Data would lots of times mess up on them.. That it wasnt perfected..
Since then I have been doing CDs & DVDs in multisessions.. In the end I get data on My Disk like Packet writing.. its just a few more steps..
So.. does anybody know why I was getting bad sectors on the Verbatims?.. and why I didnt using Packet writing.. And should I even worry about it, and just use INCD (packet writing).. Its just I still dont trust the (packet writing) after loosing a bunch of stuff a few years ago.
If it helps.. Im using:
Win XP Pro SP2
NEC 1300A
Verbatim (DataLifePlus) 4xDVD+RW (MKM.....A02)
Thanks!
