  1. Hi,

I've recorded a DVD with my standalone dvd recorder.
I cut the commercials with Tmpg Mpeg Editor and output as DVD-Video in mpg format (sound is ac3 256 kbps).

    No problem.

Now, when I play it with PowerDvd to take note of the time to add chapters later in Tmpg DVD Author, the sound is out of synch and the time is not the same as the one displayed in tmpg dvd author.

ie: I want to set a chapter at 12min45sec (time displayed in powerdvd). Now when I go to tmpg dvd author the time of the scene is not the same (ie: 12:53 sec for example).

I have the same thing if I play the recorded disc (dvd+rw) on my computer => sound out of synch.

If I play it in my standalone dvd recorder ou dvd layer all is perfect.

I only have sound synch problems with home made dvd's played on computer. The work fine in standalone. Commercial buyed dvd plays fine in powerdvd.

What can I do to have the same time in tmpg dvd author and in power dvd to make chapers more accurate and also why the sound is out of synch only in computer and not in standalone ???

At a guess, I'd say that the editing is causing the sync problems and you should look for a better alternative. One that handles cutiing AC3 audio better. The time issue I would suggest comes from the fact that mpeg files can contain an internal timecode, and that is what PowerDVD is reading. When you edit the file, you remove sections from the timecode, but it isn't rewritten to line up from scratch.

  4. After finishing my vob output. The sound is still out of synch only in the computer.

It's perfectly synched when played on any standalone dvd player
