    Hey All,
I know this is an aloof posting but after going to the grocery store to buy replacement blades for my Mach III turbo I am disgusted with how much they cost! Is there anything similar for less?

I doubt it.....razor blades are just one of those things that are too expensive.

  3. Would you prefer the properly-manufactured, sterile blades or the cheap alternatives that could be carrying anything?

I'd spend the extra couple of quid anyday.

You have a Sam's club type store near you, the type that sells in large bulk? Don't know if they have the Mach replacement blades but I bought 40 Gillette disposable razors for $15.

Tell the Air Force you may be interested in joining. They'll probably send a few over.

I use ones I buy in packs of 12 that I get at the dollar store. They work just fine. They aren't Mach III Turbo compatible though.

the ones you get at the dollar store, are they triple bladed? I would be surprised if they sold such a thing.

Sorry buddy, no help here. Full beard and handle bars, sometimes mutton chops. Sheep sheers and a straight razor. No time to take half a dozen strokes over the same spot in different directions with some wimpy plastic toy. Just shave off the top three layers of skin on the first pass and be careful not to go back over the same area twice!
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?

It's called captive marketing. Razor blades are a perfect example! Manufacturing and design costs are not the reason that these blades cost as much as they do, it's pure profit driven (surprise, no?)

Think about it. The razor itself (handle, mounting surface, first blade) is quite cheap. I remember when I turned 18 I got a free mach II from Gilette (How they knew my bday was another matter). So they price the razor low or give it away.

Now what do you do when you need a new razor? There isn't some cheap generic razor that fits into your Mach III, so you are forced to buy their blades. You can moan and bitch, but what else is there? If you have a heavy beard, like me, the cheap ones that come in bulk from Bic and the like hurt, and don't do as nice a job.

From a marketers/CEO standpoint, it's a great situation for the customer to be in.

so I did a little more research and came across something called "cryogenically tempered" Mach 3 razor blades. If you do a internet search you will come across a company who sells an 8 pack + shipping for $21.00 Figure its worth a shot, otherwise I am a sucker and shelled out a few extra bucks for blades. Will post later on with a review.

    Just like printer ink.

WOTS, I got one on my 18th birthday too. I'm wondering too how the hell they knew my birthday.
