Hi ALL!
I've heard that there is a new firware update for LG-4081B DVD Recorder, in which allows recording in double layer media.
Does anyone know if that is true???
Thanks in advance!

I've heard the same for the 4040B, but haven't been able to find it either.
LG's site doesn't have any and they won't answer my emails about newer firmware either.
I think somebody's just having a little fun with us...
very few manufacturers have actually released firmware that updates SL burners to DL (NEC is the only one that comes to mind)
and why would they? after all, I'm sure they would rather you spend more $$$ on their new DL model than just get free firmware (though I'd gladly pay a reasonable price for a firmware update that converted my burner to DL)

Thanks for that link
i already visited that site and i think its a hacked version of the "real"firmwarereleased by LG
dangerous brothers hacked the firmware to make the drive region free but i wanted to know the real/original details of A106 release.
just wanted to know what modifications im doing before i install it
thanksI love it when a plan comes together! -
Most of the updates are for new media and better write strategies of exisintgm edia supported in the firmware. Since it's an 8x burner, it could possibly be flashed to write DL, but the odds are slim. The Dangerous Brothers, and the rest of the guys/gals at RPC1/CDFreaks are normally right on top of things, they probably would have done it by now.
