I'd like to burn a few disks that even with compression & stripped are at 60%. Is this too low? I have tried to stay no lower then 85% in the past & the results have been fine. I'm afraid to try anything lower.

'too low' is in the eye of the beholder. If you're not watching a large or HD screen, you probably won't notice the difference. On the other hand, if you intend on buying a HD or large screen in the future, then you might want to split the movie onto 2 discs. What are discs, like $.30 each now? I'd suggest you burn to a DVD-/+RW (to not waste a blank) and try it out for yourself.

Good compression fits on the disk and looks good. Bad compression still fits, but looks like crap. Having argued with people who tell me they can't see the difference between the original and a disk reduced to 55% by DVD Shrink, I no longer try to quantify an amount.

my logic is that most dvds are anamorphic so 30% equates to the bitrate used in the black boards.......
sounds dumb but i guess it all guess work:P 8)
