If the device came with software other than Studio 8, you have a problem ... and would have to buy Studio 8 separately or find a manual for the software that came with the device. One note - buying Studio 8 might be problematic since they've upgraded to Studio 9 ... unless Studio 9 is compatible with the DVC150 (you'd have to ask them).
But, if you do have Studio 8 software:

First, use the manual to enable proper settings to capture MPEG2 on the fly. If the software allows you to set a capture bitrate (not sure), use the VideoHelp bitrate calculator to figure out what your best setting should be ... based on the time of the program you want to capture off your VHS tape. If you can't set the bitrate, set your capture up to the best MPEG2 setting allowed by the software. Then, plug your composite VCR outputs into the composite DVC inputs (S-Video is best if your VCR has S-Video outputs), and capture the program.
Once you're done, use DVDauthorGUI to create DVD files from the MPEG2 file you captured. If it gives you an error message saying something like "no NAV packets found," you'll have to demux the MPEG2 file into its parts -- M2V video, and MP2 audio. If there's free software out there that does this, I'm not aware of it. TMPGenc Plus will demux an MPEG2 file but it costs money (after a brief free trial period). Once you've demuxed the MPEG2 file, go back to DVDauthorGUI and import the video/audio parts. This will create the DVD files you need to burn.
Using DVDshrink, import the DVD file directory. If the files you created are too big to fit on a DVD, DVDshrink will compress them for you. With DVDshrink, create an ISO file. And finally, with DVDdecrypter, burn the ISO file to a blank DVD.
Good luck.
