Running 2 160G SATA Raid Harddrives imaged to show 320G.
First 4 harddrives were Maxtor. Captured lots of footage from DV Camcorder or Canopus Advc-100 thru my IEEE port of my Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS into Premiere. After 4th maxtor failure, I switched over to Western Digital. Service Tech set everthing up.
Now when I capture I get a skip in audio about every 140 seconds. Video may skip but it is less noticable if at all. This desynchronizes the audio and video. After a 7 minute video it is awful.
When I export I notice both the audio and video skip but they seem to stay synchronized. I also notice when booting up the window startup music skips.
Someone mentioned Raid SATA drive resynchronize themselves. Would they do this every 140 seconds? Is this my problem and how do I get around it. Or do I need to change a setting in my Harddrive or Soundblaster?

I had issues with transferring through the soundblaster firewire port. I've seen others post the same and others post they have no issues at all. It wouldn't skip but completely disconnect the cam.

Get a generic firewire card for capture. Creative's firewire port isn't quite as standard as the word 'standard' would suggest. I also believe it is better to have the firewire card doing nothing but firewire, and let the sound card do sound. But that's just me.
