    how do i put 3 xvid mvoes on 1 dvd-r to play on my philips divx player without encoding to mpeg-2? i want to also add a menu. thanks for your help.

    As reboot said, burn as data.

    Unfortunately XviD doesn't support menus at this stage so you're SOL on that count.

    XviD will never support menu's. It is just a video codec. Menus are upto the container.

    i belive so with divx. i am hoping future dvd plays may support it or even xbmc (xbox media centre)

    Most players I've seen display a file listing, which is sort-of a very basic menu, but that's player-driven, as opposed to displaying a custom menu from the disc.

    i do not know of any players that can. you need to download special codec ect from the website to even view it on your pc. but once you do it has full menus just like a dvd

    Menus is DivX is a container, not a codec. Should be perfectly possible to have XviD in a .divx container with a menu.

    The .divx container is based on or rather a hack of the avi container.

    Don't think any current firmwares for players support .divx menus. But DXN I believe said that all DivX certified devices will eventually support them via firmware updates.
