I was just down at our central production site to oversee the installation of our company's first venture into CD/DVD production. We got a Rimage Protege II with the Everest II thermal transfer printer.

We had Rimage come out and install the unit today and give us the rundown on how to use it. Ours only has 2 burners and a single printer but depending on what kind of use I can get from it... I mean our company can get from it we may scale it up to double that. That thermal printer is awesome and way faster than my R320 at home. The Dell workstation that acts as its terminal is an odd duck. It has a single 2.8 P4 with 1GB of RAM so that's pretty standard, and the OS is on a 7200rpm Seagate 80GB SATA drive with NCQ. However the system carries three 74GB Raptors for what I can only assume is storage space since we'll only be using that system for CD/DVD duplication and printing, no mastering or production work of the actual content. What a waste of brilliant hard drives. Maybe if I lean on them some more they'll post me there to do mastering work which would be great fun with that $25k toy
