I have been using the same hardware/software combination for several years with good results.
However, my vid card(G400) went bad, I decided to not only upgrade but also reformat, add ram and went to a GForce FX5500(needed dual head and the extra ram and new instruction sets wouldn't hurt either).
Have been capturing @ 720 x 480 with no problems but now with the VHS tapes that I am trying to capture its either 352 x 480 or nothing!
Either I get a lot of strange horizontal artifacts or the color all goes blue or the screen freezes, massive dropped frames(although the recording continues, but capture is un-playable).
My question is this, could these tapes have macrovision? VHS, Star Wars I and II?(I'm just backing them up for safety purposes) and how do you tell if a tape has macrovision before you attempt to capture?
Regards,
jaybird
