Yes, but this is a good sign that prices on DL blanks may be coming down. The best I've found to date has been a 9 pack for $48 at Sams' Club.

  9. To avoid tax on internet purchases you have to be in a state that doesn't require such a tax, and be ordering from a company that does not have a physical presence in your state. For example, the Apple stores that are rapidly appearing in various cities, will qualify you for sales tax when ordering from the Apple on line store. Similarly Bestbuy.com, Circitcity.com, etc. are pretty much in every state.

To answer the qustion on cases, check out smalldog.com and owc.com

Unless for the purposes of sales tax, Apple and the iTunes Music Store must be considered separate companies here in Maryland ... I never pay sales tax on my iTunes purchases, and there are two Apple stores in my county.

Maryland does have a sales tax -- I think its Delaware you're thinking of, rotuts. Delaware doesn't have the dreaded sales tax, and I love them for it.

  11. actually I don't pay tax in CA and MA on most internet purchases of ordinary stuff where many vendors have the same price, some have free shipping and I then pick the one with no sale tax. its mildly againt the real law as in CA and MA you are supposed to pay directly to the state for the stuff you buy out of state.

of note are places like Buy.com that charge you sales tax, have no 'place' really in your state and then charge you an inflated sales tax and I wonder if they turn that over to the supposed state, noticing they charge too much.

Ot but interesting. the great state of TX where my sister lives has no sale tax. I buy my apple computers in NH and they have no sale tax. both have no infrastructure or public schools either

Since that BestBuy.com deal is still sold out, and that online price is, well, pricey, I thought I'd give Staples.com a try. Their three-pack is selling for just under $16: http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StaplesProductDisplay?storeId=10001&c...&cmArea=SEARCH

    At Amazon.com, the 3-pack is $9.99: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002LEMWE/qid=1129841629/sr=8-2/ref=pd_...onics&n=507846

Overall, not quite the steal, but hey, the three packs used to cost $35.

  14. I wonder if they will ever be $2/per or better $1/per then Id get the recorder.

you can get Sony's under the Fry "GQ" brand if y ou are carefull single layer for 20c/per and with the new toast or playing around with Yade X and FFM get good results.

still they are taking a long time to "drop" into my price range. but progress has been made
