Ok a few questions...is there a way to burn a movie that is downloaded onto a cd-r and play it in a dvd player? If so HOW?

Yes, read the How to sections.

First, you should read the how-to's. Here is a quick guide.
1. Find out what format the movie is (.asf, .mpg, etc.)
2. It will need to be .mpg
3. If it is not .mpg, use TMPEGEnc to convert it to .mpg (how-to)
4. Once it is converted, make sure that it will fit on a disc, if it is too big, use TMPEGEnc to split it into 2 files and burn each one separately (also in how-to section)
5. Burn using NERO - very easy
