Virtualdub or avisynth to resize and sharpen if necessary. Frameserve this to CCE to get the video. Demux the audio as uncompressed wav file using virtualdub, the use soundforge to output a 2 channel AC3 audio track (assumes mp3 audio in avi file). Load this into DVD Lab Pro to author, VSO CopytoDVD to burn. I have done a few like this, all successful. I use my own resize calculator to get the right size, however fittoCD will also do.

Personally I use Mainconcept most of the time, but frameserving to CCE would be just as good if not better.

Any of the for-money converters is good. Procoder, CCE, Mainconcept.

  9. At least nobody is jumping in here, recommending Xilisoft, Honestech, VSO, or DVDSanta!

  10. I am happy with VSO divxtodvd. You can even save space because it produces small files.

    How about Cucusoft?
    Just kidding.

I still use TMPGEnc, but rarely. DL'ed AVIs aren't worth the effort, IMHO.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

  12. I have to retract my earlier statement.
For good quality avi (captures, not downloaded crap), VSO does a great job, and it's fast!
Load the finished vob's into DVDLab and reauthor.
I can save a TON of encoding time, even faster than Canopus and Mainconcept...which is strange considering the libvacodec encoder VSO is based on, is slow as hell.
