When I play a movie be it an xvid divx mpg wmv it will have a tendency to stutter some or stop for a sec or 2 or even longer and then it will continue. I us bsplayer to play my vids back and have tried it in windows media player and get the same thing.

I am using winxp pro don't have many codecs installed. I run an athalon xp 2800 with 1gb of ram ti6200 256mb gigabyte agp 8x card.

The net is a wonderful place to waste time. You can wade through great information and garbage. But then we are only Human

Are you streaming the video or playing it from your HD?

OK folks someone has to know about this problem. I don't want to have to reinstall my system just to fix it.

  5. What do you have running in the background? Any antivirus programs or P2P apps?

I have a similar problem where the audio will stutter, no matter the format I'm playing back. However, I have over a dozen programs running in the background and I think that might have something to do with it.

Even though, I don't remember having this problem until I installed SP1 for Windows Server 2003.

  6. BTW, I've found that eMule, at least on this computer, causes this problem more than most other programs.
