  1. I have the following digital video camera: JVC GR-DVL100E .
The problem is that the DV-out worked on my previous WindowsXP install, but since I reinstalled the OS the DV-out of my cam isn't working anymore.
I tried another camera (Sharp) and that one is detected immediately via the firewirecard, so that's not the problem.
Since the cam is not the newest model, I think it can be either the DV-out that's broken, or I have to install additional drivers for the JVC. Does anyone know what I can do of what drivers/software I can use to get it working or does anyone have (the same) experience with this model of JVC?

    Couple of obvious questions:

Is the camcorder set to VCR mode?

If it's pluged in, turned on and set to VCR mode, it should show up in Windows Explorer.

Did you do a Clean install of XP or a Re-Install over the OS?

A clean install an a formated drive is the best bet. A restore image also does the same thing. If you Re-Installed over the OS, it may have messed things up.

what do you mean with VCR-mode? The turnable record-button is set to "Play" (in all possible settings it doesn't work...)

It is a clean install of WinXP. But as I said: another cam works without problems (shows up direct in Explorer)

  4. I can think of two things. First, some cameras require you to enable the output ports. Typically the default is on, but you may have accidentally changed it. Go through all the setup menus and make sure that output is still turned on.

Second, those little 4 pin mini receptacles are horrible for getting their pins bent. Get a strong magnifying glass and good light and see what you can see. A bit of pin straightening with something like an upholstery needle is often times all that is needed.

If one camera is working and another isn't it almost certainly is not Windows. Try your camera on another computer, just to see, but my bet is pins or you've managed to get the port turned off.
