May "broke" the lens of the DVD drive? First of all, I believe if you used the proper tense of the verb, it would be "break" the lens of the DVD drive. Second, I don't think it would technically "break" the lens. It may, however, contribute to the demise of the laser diodes. Not sure though. I have some violet topped DVD-R, but they are CMC media. You can't just assume that all "violet topped" media is all bad. (Most people won't touch CMC discs with a ten foot pole, but alternatively, CMC is only media some people will use.)

I would verify the media manufacturer first.

  3. Your source is "some people"...
    Don't believe them.

hi friends, thanks for your answers.
first of all, smearbrick1, i want to apologize about my english. i want to say, as you perfect wrote, that i heard that this kind of media "contribute to the demise of the laser diodes".
HatchetMan, i agree with you, i don't have a big knowlege base, but i don't believe this kind of notices...
i know that in this forum write a lot of advanced users, with very much knowledge as i have, and i want to ask this rare question to the forum.
    thanks a lot again !
    best regards,

    Lay off him.
I'm sure your Portugese or Spanish (I forget what they speak there) would be equally as broken. I know mine would, to a degree.

    Take notice of user locations.

They speak Spanish (and indigenous languages of course) in all of South America EXCEPT for Brazil.

I can't wait to go back to South America. Loved Colombia.

    Argentinian and Chilean wines ROCK!

Except for Guyana, where they speak English and Hindi. And of course French Guyana, where they speak French. And there's Suriname, where Dutch is the official language...

  8. Don't worry about how long these dvd's will last , soon you will be looking for blue ray or other new technology. After 2006 these dvd's will not be good enough for those hi definition TV's . about a 1-1/2 year ago it was all svcd talk.

You know, normally I wouldn't respond to comments from a mod, but seeing how this comment seems to be coming from the videohelp know-it-all. Thanks alot... I've been put in my place.

You know, I don't necessarily always check the location. In fact, I didn't see a location when I responded to his/her question. Being as small minded as I am, I simply assumed that he/she was from an English speaking country (they typed in English). I also assumed that he/she might have just another one of these lazy-assed, grammatically-challenged morons, whom so often bless this site with their presence. I apologize completely for my comments to the original poster.

Don't make an ass of yourself by assuming things. Also, nobody wants to hear your sarcastic reply to the mod.
