  1. Hey All,
I am doing a last minute extra gift for my wife for Mother's Day.
I know I can use iDVD to create the slideshow using pix from my iPhoto Library. Can anyone tell me the quickest/easiest way to convert the completed slideshow to file burnable (with Toast 6) to a SVCD?
Can iDVD do the conversion itself? Should I use ffmpegx?
Any/All Help is Greatly Appreciated since I have only tonight and tomorrow night to complete the project. Thanx Gang!

Toast 6 can make the SVCD slide show directly from your iPhoto library. See Toast Help for instructions. Toast slide shows have no sound. In fact, I don't think any application can make a SVCD slide show with sound because it doesn't conform to the SVCD specs. If you must have sound then use Motion Pictures bundled with Toast 6 to create a SVCD slide show movie with sound.

  3. I think I may have mis-stated my intention...
After creating the Slideshow with iDVD (thus creating a DVD file), I wish to compress/convert it to an SVCD file.
(iDVD will allow me to add music, set the picture display time etc).
    Thanks,

You can try dragging the VIDEO_TS from the iDVD slide show to the Toast Video window and select SVCD as your format. Toast may be able to re-encode the content from the VIDEO_TS to an MPEG2 movie in the SVCD spec. However, I don't think you'll like the result if it does work. You'd be much better off creating the SVCD slide show in the first place even if you don't get sound. Just play a CD in the background while the SVCD slide show is playing.
