I want to know if I need to convert wmv to mpg to play in my dvd, because when I burn to dvd+r, it says check disc and the dvd player plays dvd+-r and Windows Media files. What should I do?

Unless you have a DVD players designed to play wmv (highly unlikley) you will need to convert to DVD-Video format which uses mpeg-2 compression. See the guides section for lots of help.
