  1. Just bought a lite-on 5005 dvd recorder. First thing I noticed was a vertical bar rolling from right to left when i'm using the tv tuner all channels. When I use my vcr tuner no bar any ideas on how to get rid of the bar other than returning the unit? Good thing I bought it from Costco.

  2. Had the same issue several months ago. I took the unit back and got a replacement. Same issue with the replacement. I just gave up. Figured the tuner was junk.

  3. I had a vertical bar scrolling across the screen too on a new 5005 from Costco (jan 05 man). But this was through the RCA inputs in the back that were connected to my TiVo output. That plus other issues convinced me to return the unit. I have not yet bought another machine.

    Power line noise. Vertical herringbone.

  5. Had mine connected to an APC line conditioner.

  6. I have a nice APC system everything is plugged into. Must be a very cheap, unshielded power supply in the LiteOn. It's the only piece of equipment in the house to have such a problem. Anyway, it went back, and that just adds another shortcoming to a long list of them for that model.

  7. Did some more testing when I burn a dvd using the tv tuner in the 5005 it comes out perfect no vertical rolling bars. But if you watch the tuner on tv it has the bars on all channels. You would think it would record what you see on it's tv tuner. Weird!

APC line conditioners won't fix noise caused by coax connections. I have one too, but certain channels here pick up strong interference. It could also be FM noise, etc. All kinds of possible problems.
