I am not a beginner, although not an expert, in creating dvd menus. But there is one thing I cannot do. I want that when I insert the DVD I make in a player, an introduction video, like a 3d title, plays before the menu. But I don't want this video to be visible in the menu, neither as a track nor as a chapter. Can anyone help me out with this please?

And you are using what Authoring software?

There's usually a FirstPlay option that does what you want, but it might be called different names depending on your Authoring software...

Thanks for your reply. I use tmpgenc dvd author and dvdlab. I know about the feature of first play but that would also be included in the menu. It's not nice to have an introduction title included with the movies you put on the dvd. My name is also George. Great minds think alike!!!

    Hi George,

The firstplay doesn't have to be on the MENU's. Which version of DVDLab are you running? When I setup a Firstplay, it only plays once, and I don't include it on my menus.

I am using DVD LabPro, but I believe it's the same in DVDLab.

I've never tried this so I'm theorizing. In TDA in the menu options you can uncheck all chapters for that track, but that might not work. You can also set up a custom menu that only diplays text for each track, then for that track delete the text (you can't remove the text box, but you can remove the text), then move the text box to a corner, or somewhere in the overscan area so it's not visible. You might also try changing the font size to the smallest available to make sure the textbox is as small as it can be.

First Play in DVD Lab does exactly what you need. I use this all the time to include standard copyright clips and logos. You can in fact link First Play->Clip1-Clip2->Clip3->Menu if you want. Once they are played through you never see them again unless you eject and restart the disk.

Pgcedit can do this for free , and its easy .

If this video you want up front has its own ifo , bup and the ts then you simply launch pcgedit .

Now create a new folder , and copy this video file to it , then get pgcedit to open dvd , aim it at that folder (the tx , ifo and bup must also be there) .

To add menu's with buttons , you should already have this created with your buttons already included .

For this you select the vsts title to highlight it , and then choose import title , it will ask if its a still or animated , its animated , so choose that and locate the menu .

If you get asked about bovs , just cancel that for now .
If you get asked what to do with the file , ALWAYS copy it .

Highlight each vtst tilte and again go through the same rountine as before , and add you tiltes .

When done , save dvd , and reopen it .

This time you will be asked about bov scanning , if you know which title has the buttons , sellect it , hit scan , and be happy .

You now need to connect all you buttons and titles together , save when done , pre-play it before burning it .

The full guide on compilation dvds using pgcedit will be available towards the end of the week ..

I am busy with those bov picks , no stinking 16 colors restriction here , mine are 32,000 colors , and no restrictions in design .

I've done this with TDA as suggested by gadgetguy. I don't remember exactly all the options in TDA's menu right now but I had to create a title to be played by itself and I made it so that it was not visible at all. Worked very well.

I just did it last night in TDA....although I left a menu because the first play video was pretty cool and I knew people would want to see it again.

Unchecking the box for the video in the menu settings will still create a menu for it, there will just be a menu with no thumbnail on it.

Even if you delete the chapter automatically created by TDA when you inserted the Track?

Maybe I had the same thing happen to me. I don't remember.
