  1. I've never had a problem making dvd's before today. I twice got a blue screen of death saying "pfn list corrupt". I haven't installed anything new on my pc. What should I do? Where do I start?

Check your RAM. Look on Microsoft's site for memtest.exe. It's a dos-bootable floppy that will write several passes to RAM. You'll have to let it run overnight, or at least for several hours, to get a good reliable result. Usually, in my experience, random or out of nowhere BSoD's are related to bad RAM or other failing hardware. This is for Windows 2000, it logically applies to XP also.
